While training for some Xterra off-road triathlons this past summer I discovered the power of hemp protein. Because I am a vegetarian and was using so much energy I wanted to supplement my protein intake. Traditional supplements used by body builders and other athletes did not interest me because I don’t like the taste of, or the feeling I get from, whey or soy. Also, one is good for using during your activity while the other for a pre or post activity supplement which is too complicated to get a simple plan for using soy and whey. Then I read about the hemp protein and decided to try it.

I had already been drinking the tempt chocolate hemp milk in a fruit and yogurt smoothie for breakfast, so I just started adding two tablespoons of Living Harvest Organic Original hemp powder to it. I did not know at the time that the assimilation of the hemp protein into the body was so much greater than that of soy and whey. I know now though; because I can feel it!

The milk and powder mixture is so fulfilling and easy to digest that I can have it pre and/or post workout if I wanted. The only drawback for me was that it was gritty. Now that Living Harvest has developed tempt High Protein Powder that is white and smooth I can’t find any drawbacks. I definitely recommend Living Harvest High Protein Powder for any diet as well as for athletic supplementation.

This is how I use Living Harvest High Protein:

Breakfast Smoothie – In a blender I mix 12 oz. of Chocolate, or any flavor, hemp milk with 2 tablespoons of prebiotic organic vanilla yogurt and 2 tablespoons of High Protein Powder, 1 tablespoon of hemp oil along with a fruit, usually banana for me, but berries work really well too.

Super Milk – In a blender I mix 12 oz. of original hemp milk with 2 tablespoons of High Protein Powder. This is a very low calorie, high protein, whole food drink that is a great way to supplement protein and omegas.

When you add a tablespoon of hemp oil to any smoothie, it really makes them smooth.
