Back to school often means a frantic morning routine (or more like morning chaos). It seems to be a constant struggle to successfully get the kids and fellow grown-ups fed and out the door. But all that is needed is a few in season and core staples to keep your morning worry free and nutrient rich for the busy day ahead.
Smoothies are an easy way to save on time for a fast exit. You can make smoothies fresh each morning or if really pressed for time, mix it the night before and store in the fridge to be reblended the following morning. To save on even more time, pick up some smoothie containers with lids and built in straws: that way you and the kids can merrily sip your breakie in the car while still on schedule.
The following recipe is a great source of the antioxident rich Vitamin C and fibre from the peaches (which are now in season so stock up and freeze for the winter months that are around the corner!), Vitamin C and folate from the orange juice, and has highly digestible whole protein from the Tempt hemp products. Not only does this taste great but is an incredibly energizing and nutrient rich meal - at any time of the day.
So go ahead and shake up the morning madness to get healthy, happier and more organized.
Peaches n' Cream Tempt Smoothie
- 2 cups unsweetened frozen sliced peaches
- 1/2 cup Tempt Vanilla Hemp Milk
- 1/2 cup orange juice
- 1/2 cup Tempt Vanilla Bean Ice
- 1 Tablespoon Tempt Vanilla Spice Hemp Protein Powder
- pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Place all the ingredients in a blender or a food processor and puree on high until smooth. Serve immediately (or refrigerate for the next morning).
Makes 2 servings.
